FIVE SONGS - triptych video installation - Wellington City Gallery. N.Z.

Five Songs is a sound-and-image presentation of folk music performances from five ethnic groups in Southwest China – Yi, Dai, Wa, Laluo and Khmu. The triptych video presentation shows the musicians performing with surrounding images of their natural living environment. These sounds and images provide glimpses into communities in the Chinese hinterland where the thread of tradition has not yet been broken. Five Songs is created and presented by documentary filmmaker David Harris.

Five Songs was presented at the Wellington City Gallery, New Zealand in 2012.

It was made possible by Confucious Institute (Vic Uni.) and curated by Hui Luo, with thanks to Jack Body.
