huaiJiu - 怀旧

Synopsis

Small Path Productions and One Mind Productions present a short documentary (18mins) following the life stories of three members of the Railway Cultural Performance Troupe from their life before the Chinese “Liberation” through the decades which followed. The stories of Lin Xiao (Photographer) Wei Yanfang (Actor) and Zhou Aizhen (accountant) are revealed through the questions of Zhou Aizhen’s son Liuqing who revisits memories of his childhood and seeks to understand more of the environment he grew up in. We learn of these characters lives, and see them reunited again after more than 40 years.

Dedicated to the late Lin Xiao who has passed on since filming, filmmakers Edward A. Burger and David Harris collaborated to document the memories of this older generation who lived through so much. Memories, which grow fewer by the day.
